Some people go their entire life without meeting their idol. I was so lucky to meet mine yesterday. Megan McDonald came back to Oberlin (where she graduated in 1981) for an important weekend. While in town, she went to Oberlin Public Library to talk about her world-famous Judy Moody books. You see, I am a HUGE Judy Moody fan and I was SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited to hear Megan McDonald talk.
What did she talk about? Lots of things: where she gets ideas for the Judy Moody stories, where Stink's name came from, things that Judy collects, how Judy Moody Goes to College is actually modeled on Oberlin, and her favorite Judy Moody book, among other things. When she was done with her talk, she read from a couple of the books. Then there was a drawing for a free Judy Moody book -- but I didn't win. That's OK, because Daddy bought me 4 Megan McDonald books and Megan McDonald even signed two of them for me!!! I can't wait to get all of the Judy Moody books -- maybe someone will get me one or more for my birthday or for Chanukah.
