Lakeside Amusement Park

Grandpa and I had some quality grandpa-granddaughter time this afternoon -- he took me to Lakeside Amusement Park.  It's basically an amusement park geared towards younger kids, like me (but not Alice and Gabi -- they're still a little too young).  There were all sorts of awesome rides and I had a great time -- although you probably can't tell from the first picture :)  My favorite ride was the Frog Hopper and I even went on the roller coaster!

Thank you grandpa for such a wonderful day.  I loved it.  (And thanks for taking pictures of me too).

The Great Steamboat Springs Regatta

Mommy and Daddy were looking for something to do with us this morning after Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Diann left to go back to Denver.  Mommy had the idea of making paper boats and floating them in the mountain stream outside of our room.  So she found instructions online, we colored paper, and we folded the paper into boats.  We floated the boats and even though they all sank in the end, we had a good time.

Hiking in Steamboat

We all went for a hike the other morning to Fish Creek Falls.  It was a pretty short walk, just 1/5 of a mile from the parking lot to the bridge at the base of the falls.  Gabi and Alice did a good job of walking almost the whole way.

There wasn't too much too see; it was pretty much the waterfall and that's it.  So Daddy tried to take a group picture.

We walked a little past the waterfall and bridge and found this cool tree and root for me to sit on. I had sap on my leg for a while.

On the way back, we got down to the river.  Gabi and Alice got a little wet.  I stayed dry and posed for a couple more pictures.  Daddy and I are actually in the middle of the river!

Downtown Steamboat Springs

Phase 2 of our vacation started on Monday with our 3-hour drive into the mountains to get to Steamboat Springs.  Steamboat is a ski resort, nestled in the far northern part of Colorado (pretty close to Wyoming).  The town is flooded in the winter with people who want to ski.  But it's pretty crowded in the summer too.

We went into downtown Steamboat on Monday after dinner and found, what else, the candy store.  I got a cherry ring pop (of course).  I'm getting pretty good at tongue decorating.

Across from the candy store is a very famous cowboy store called FM Light and Sons.  There are signs for the store at least 50 miles before you get into Steamboat.  I guess them must really want you to go there and buy something.  Well, we didn't buy anything but I did get to ride on Lightning, the horse outside the store.

Jennifer's Baby Shower

While we're in Denver, cousin Jennifer came to town (from the middle of Kansas) for her baby shower -- she's having a baby girl in about two months.  It was lots of fun.

We had a tea party, with milk instead of tea.

We painted onesies for the baby.  I hope that she can sit up in mine with all of the paint that I used.

And I had a ring pop.  Guess what flavor!

The Denver Zoo

We're still in Denver, dealing with the heat as best we can.  This morning we went to the zoo.  I've been here before -- sometimes in December when there are lights on everything and once (about 4 years ago) in the summer.  There was a petting zoo area back then but it's gone now -- too bad that Alice and Gabi didn't get to see it.

We saw lots of animals today but there were two highlights for me.  First, we went on the carousel.  I rode the elephant and it went up and down.

Second, we got to ride in a wagon.  We all started off in it, but Gabi and Alice wanted to be carried or walk on their own... sometimes I got to ride by myself.

By the end of the zoo trip, I was pooped.  I laid down for a little bit, just to rest.  This is how Daddy found me an hour later.

I'm in Denver for a two-week vacation with Grandma and Grandpa (for most of it, at least).  We came out here on Monday and it's been super hot.  Grandma and Grandpa's back yard has lots of shade, which is perfect for blowing bubbles.  It took me a little while to get the hang of it (and the bubble liquid wasn't real good) but when I did, there was lots of fun to be had.
